Why was the Dog Food Selector created?

Each dog has unique needs... The approach "one food for all dogs" isn't the more suitable. Dogs have different sizes, different life stages, unique breed characteristics, health conditions and a few other factors... Choosing the right food for your dog may help him or her life a longer and healthier life! We exist to make that task easier for you.

How does the Dog Food Selector work?

It's quite simple... It's a 1-2 step process. You just have to fill in the form with your dog's characteristics, like gender, age, size, activity, health conditions and a few other important data and click "search". Then, you'll see a list of dog foods with the highest review score. If you wish you can see all the detailed review of each individual dog food.

Hill’s Dog Food “The Company Inspired by a Guide Dog”

Hill’s history began when Morris Frank, a blind man, asked Dr. Morris if there was any therapeutic solution to save his guide dog, Buddy, who presented kidney disease.

Dr. Morris’ created a nutritional formulation that became the first product in the Hill’s Prescription Diet line of therapeutic pet foods, and the world’s original dog food designed for kidney health. Shortly, Hill’s Pet Nutrition was founded.

Today, Hill’s Pet Nutrition offers the following dog food brands:

  • Healthy Advantage®
  • Prescription Diet®
  • Science Diet®
  • Ideal Balance™

Healthy advantage® dog foods deliver five health benefits (immunity, weight management, digestion, skin and coat, mobility) to address the needs of dogs at every life stage.

Prescription Diet® dog foods are formulated to address specific medical conditions that your dog can present, such as, gastrointestinal problems, heart problems, kidney problems and hepatic disease.

Science Diet® dog foods are formulated to meet the nutritional requirements of healthy dogs during different life stages.

Ideal Balance™ dog foods include only natural ingredients perfectly balanced. It is the grain free recipe from Hill’s.

Hills Pet Nutrition

Hill’s employs more than 150 veterinarians, PhD nutritionists and food scientists who work to produce new formulas and improve existing ones. Hill’s scientists author more than 50 research documents and textbook chapters each year and teach at schools of veterinary medicine.

In addition to the scientific staff, Hill’s also have a staff of companion pets. These team members put products to the test. In return, Hill’s give them everything a pet could want, including clean, roomy living quarters, exercise areas, an agility course and friends, both human and animal.

Hill’s does not contribute in studies that threaten the health of dogs. All Hill’s supported studies are designed to preserve and improve  animal health.

There are no preservatives added to Hill’s canned products. The canning process naturally preserves the food. Hill’s Science Diet dry foods contain a superior antioxidant formula that is a blend of higher levels of vitamins C and E and beta-carotene and selenium.
