L.I.D. Potato and Duck Formula for Dogs is formulated to meet the nutritional levels established by the AAFCO Dog Food Nutrient Profiles for All Life Stages.

Detail Ingredient Analysis

Protein: Duck meal and duck are good sources of high quality protein. They are easy for dogs to digest and taste very well. Duck meat is also a good source of vitamins as well as several minerals.

Potato protein is a byproduct of potato processing. It is less expensive than meat. It shouldn’t not be used as a substitute of meat in dog foods since the quality and digestibility of vegetable proteins are low. However, in this dog food, duck is the main protein source.

Carbohydrates: Potatoes are made up of starch. They provide B vitamins, carbohydrates, Vitamin C, potassium, iron and magnesium.

Fat and oil: Canola oil is nutritionally acceptable and unlikely to cause any problems. Some say that its high content of erucic acid may be a reason to concern. But, there is little concrete evidence to confirm or reject such claims.

Salmon oil comes from the processing of salmon. As well as providing energy, salmon oil contains abundant essential omega 3 and omega 6 fatty acids which have wide ranging health benefits.

Flaxseed contains flax seed oil, which is one of the richest sources of essential omega fatty acids. It is also a good source of amino acids and contains lots of vitamins and minerals. It promotes a soft, glossy coat and healthy skin. However, flaxseed also contains phytoestrogens. These compounds can act as endocrine disruptors, interfering with the body’s network of glands responsible for secreting hormones. However, I believe that you shouldn’t be worried about the amount of flaxseed included in this dog food, because it’s unlikely to cause problems in your dog’s endocrine system.

Fiber: Potato fiber has a favorable fermentation profile without negatively affect nutrient digestibility or stool characteristics. It is a functional dietary fiber source in dog foods.

Flavors: Natural flavor’s main function is flavoring rather than nutritional. In dry dog foods, this ingredient sometimes refers to a combination of fresh meat and oils.

Supplements: Chelated minerals are attached to an easily absorbable component. These minerals are more readily absorbed than commonly used inorganic minerals.

Tocopherols are an excellent source of Vitamin E, which is a powerful antioxidant and protects against cell damage from free radicals.

Yucca Schidigera Extract is a natural extract that supports anti-inflammatory processes in tendons and joint cartilage.

This food does not contain sweeteners, dyes or artificial preservatives.
