Biologically appropriate Orijen is not the same that conventional dry dog foods.
Biologically Appropriate philosophy characterizes a new class of foods formulated to nourish dogs according to their evolutionary adaptation to fresh meat and protein rich diets.
Dogs developed as hunters and, regardless of a current lifestyle, their anatomical features are adjusted to an almost exclusively meat-based diet.
Orijen formulas are characterized by being rich in protein, carbohydrate limited and grain-free.
This brand does not use many conventional pet food ingredients like high-glycemic cereal grains (e.g. wheat, corn) and vegetable proteins (e.g. soy, glutens).
Orijen formulas feature a variety of meats including fresh, free-run chicken and turkey, fresh whole eggs, fresh free-range red meats and fresh saltwater and freshwater fish.
Orijen includes ingredients that are sustainably raised within Canada region and then delivered fresh each day.
Western Canada’s farms, fertile prairies, and cold clear waters are the source of fresh regional ingredients.
These ingredients are raised locally, passed fit for human consumption, and then delivered fresh and preservative-free.
What do fresh ingredients mean?
- Never frozen: refrigeration is the only method of preservation
- Preservative-free: no chemicals or synthetics added
- Authentic: fresh ingredients are delivered within a day or two of harvest
